This is our base rate for general investigative services and applies to most cases unless otherwise quoted.

Some investigations require an upfront retainer, especially those involving surveillance, complex research, or legal proceedings.

• Retainer hours are billed at $50/hour, offering a cost-efficient solution for longer or ongoing cases.
• The required amount will vary depending on the service scope and urgency.

Any hours exceeding the retainer are billed at the base rate of $75/hour. Unused retainer hours may be refundable or applied to future work, as outlined in your agreement.

Missing Persons

• Purpose: Locate missing loved ones, estranged friends, or avoid foul play.
• Rate: $75/hour
• Retainer: May be required for complex or high-risk cases.
• Recommended Retainer (if applicable): $1,000–$2,500 (covers 20–50 hours at $50/hour)

Missing Assets / Skip Tracing

• Purpose: Trace hidden assets or locate individuals for debt recovery or court actions.
• Rate: Flat fee or $75/hour, based on case complexity
• Retainer: May be required for asset-heavy or evasive subjects
• Recommended Retainer (if applicable): $1,000–$2,000 (20–40 hours)

Child Custody Investigations

• Purpose: Surveillance and reporting to support custody cases or parenting time concerns.
• Rate: $75/hour
• Retainer: Required for most cases due to the extended nature of surveillance
• Recommended Retainer: $2,500–$3,000 (50–60 hours)

Ancestry & Genealogy Research (DNA optional)

• Purpose: Explore family history, assist in adoption reunions, or confirm genetic lineage.
• Rate: $75/hour or flat project pricing
• Retainer: Optional for long-term research projects
• Recommended Retainer (if used): $1,000–$2,500 (20–50 hours)
• Note: DNA testing incurs additional lab fees if requested.

Counter-Surveillance

• Purpose: Identify and eliminate hidden recording devices or digital tracking threats.
• Rate: $75/hour
• Retainer: Often required for full physical and electronic sweeps
• Recommended Retainer: $1,500–$3,000 (30–60 hours)
• Note: Includes travel, behavioral analysis, and equipment use.

Process Service

• Purpose: Reliable and discreet delivery of legal documents, including subpoenas, affidavits, and court notices.
• Rate: Flat fee + mileage (based on delivery zone)
• Retainer: Not typically required unless bundled with an ongoing investigation
• Note: Rush services available for an additional fee.

Background Checks

• Purpose: Verify identity, criminal history, employment, relationships, and financial risk—for employers, landlords, or personal protection.
  Rate:
• Basic: Flat fee per report (e.g., $250–$400 depending on depth)
• In-Depth: Hourly at $75/hour for complex or cross-jurisdictional investigations
• Retainer: Optional for deep investigations involving multiple sources or surveillance
• Recommended Retainer (if needed): $1,000–$1,500 (20–30 hours)

Elder Abuse Investigations

• Purpose: Uncover signs of neglect, exploitation, or mistreatment in care facilities or private settings.
• Rate: $75/hour
• Retainer: Often required due to sensitivity and length of investigation
• Recommended Retainer: $2,000–$3,000 (40–60 hours)
• Note: Includes interviews, documentation reviews, and covert observation where applicable.

Catfishing & Online Fraud

• Purpose: Identify digital deception, romance scams, false identities, or online extortion.
• Rate: $75/hour or flat case rate (based on complexity)
• Retainer: Often required for digital tracing or multi-platform investigations
• Recommended Retainer: $1,500–$2,500 (30–50 hours)
• Note: May involve social engineering, reverse image searches, IP tracing, and coordination with law enforcement.

Bug Sweeps (TSCM – Technical Surveillance Counter Measures)

• Purpose: Detect unauthorized electronic surveillance in homes, vehicles, or offices.
• Rate: Hourly: $75/hour
• Flat fee: Based on location size and sweep depth (starting at ~$500 for small areas)
• Retainer: May be required for full sweeps or extended property assessments
• Recommended Retainer: $1,000–$3,000 (20–60 hours)
• Note: Includes RF scanning, physical search, and proprietary TSCM equipment use.

• Our base rate of $75/hour is friendly, competitive, and suitable for a boutique solo practitioner—especially at the lower end of local averages.

Retainer Ranges

• Consumer retainer fees in Ontario frequently range from $1,000 to $5,000+ depending on case complexity
• Simplest cases may begin at $500–1,000; more extended or complex investigations often require up to $3,000–5,000
